WANTED: Full-Time Assistant for CEO at Abrams Media

Social Media - Posted on May 1, 2012
This employer is not willing to relocate.

Job Description:

Abrams Media is looking for a detail-oriented and hyper-organized full-time assistant for our CEO. This assistant must also be well versed in social media practices, as s/he will be needed to help out with social media for our various sites.

What kind of person are we looking for? The type who thrives on taking care of things the right way the first time. A task comes in and you figure out how to get it done without having to ask a lot of questions. When you say, "I'll take care of it" we know it'll be done well. You get excited when you know you've made someone else's day easier.

In addition to serving as an assistant, we're looking for someone who is willing to help our sites consolidate and implement new social media strategies. You will work side by side with our team, participating in projects from the initial creative brainstorm through to their execution. You'll help manage social media accounts, help our sites implement new strategies while remaining on-brand and add to our company's digital platform.

You should be familiar with Microsoft Office and various social media platforms (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Tumblr, etc.), have excellent telephone manners and pride yourself on your efficiency and discretion. No two days are alike in this job -- a typical day's work may involve everything from calendar management to booking travel to dealing with TV bookers to low-level research and writing projects. It is imperative that you be an adept multi-tasker and have excellent follow-up skills. Knowing your way around NYC (restaurants, subway lines, cardinal directions, etc.) is a big plus.

Experience is much less important than enthusiasm, confidence, and organization. Your reaction when asked to do something you've never done before should be, "Awesome -- I get to tackle something completely new!" There is a lot of room for growth in this position, but it is entry level. If you are looking to start at a company in a more senior role, this is not the job for you. That being said, we place a high premium on developing our employees' talents and promoting advancement within our organization. To apply, just send us a resume and a cover letter.

Regarding that cover letter: Take a moment right now to look at this job description. Now take a moment to think about what it is we are looking for. If your cover letter does not address why you want to work in this specific position at this specific company, we will not be able to consider you.
